Happy Creative director Simon Brooke has been appointed to the board of directors of Oldham Athletic football club.
An Oldham fans since childhood, Simon's appointment was confirmed by the football club after ratification from the Football League. The appointment is a key one for the football club as Simon takes up the position of Trust Oldham representative on the board. The fans group, Trust Oldham was established in 2004 when Oldham Athletic very nearly went out of business. The money raised by fans at the time helped secure the club along with a permanent seat on the board of the football club.
Speaking about his appointment Simon said, "Since my dad first walked me through the Chaddy End turnstiles in 1986 this club has been a huge part of my life, and it has given me many wonderful experiences and great friends. I count myself extremely fortunate and privileged to be taking on this important role."Commenting on the appointment for the club, Chairman Simon Corney said: “It is with pleasure that we welcome Simon onto the Board in his role as the representative of Trust Oldham. It is no secret that I have long wished that the Trust could play a more proactive role at our club and Simon has the qualities and experience to make this happen. We believe he will prove a valuable addition to the Board and his appointment will further strengthen the link between club and fans.” Simon also remains a full time director of Happy Creative, the strategic branding and marketing agency based in Blackpool. They are celebrating 10 years in business this year.
