Here at Odonnells Solicitors our aim is to focus on our clients’ needs and provide them with exceptional service. That means securing solicitors with the right skill set and experience to ensure our team, as a whole, provides a wide range of expertise.
In our commitment to the expansion of our Court of Protection team we have made two new appointments in recent months: Lucy Gorst and Kirsty Nickson. Our Court of Protection team is headed by solicitor and director, Philippa Curran, who says: “I am delighted to have recruited two solicitors of the calibre of Lucy and Kirsty to our team. Both are demonstrating their skills in dealing with and supporting vulnerable members of society to ensure their rights are upheld and decisions are taken in their best interests.”
Lucy qualified as a solicitor in 2005, initially specialising in family law. She has gained significant experience working in both the private and public sector, and her time with a local authority legal department has fuelled her motivation to help the most vulnerable in our society and to ensure access to justice for all.Lucy joined Odonnells in November 2015 to work alongside Philippa Curran and Ruth Muncaster in the Court of Protection department, where she can continue to represent clients who need legal help and advocacy in financial and welfare matters.
Kirsty is also a solicitor with extensive experience in financial deputyship administration. She has worked with clients, who have been involved in high value personal injury litigation due to brain injury and/or serious physical disability as a result of traumatic injury, illness or negligent hospital treatment.Kirsty continued to assist by managing their financial affairs following the appointment of a deputy by the Court of Protection. She is led by her clients’ best interests, ensuring their needs in all aspects of their lives are met, and takes pride in her sensitive and caring approach, guiding clients through complex legalities so they understand what is happening each step of the way and to ensure their voice is heard.
Both Lucy and Kirsty will be assisting with cases where the Court of Protection is considering the welfare of the individual concerned and any deprivation of their liberty.
