HR services company NORi HR & Employment Law has shown its support for our military personnel by signing up to the Armed Forces Covenant. The official ceremony was held at Burnley College, which also signed up alongside local engineering company Safran Nacelles.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a way for businesses to pledge to help serving and ex-military personnel and their families, either through employment, or flexibility to enable them to carry out their duties in addition to joining a network of other supportive businesses.
Jason Govindji-Bruce, CEO of NORi HR, commented: "We commit to supporting all military personnel and their families including through recruitment, and supporting our two serving reservists by offering unlimited leave to all employees, without restrictions. This enables our reservists to fulfil their duties, without worrying about their work/life balance being impacted by their commitments to serving our country.
"It's important to NORi and myself personally because it's always something that we've valued. The sacrifice that the personnel, reservists, and the First Line do every single day, provides us with the freedoms that we have. We need to support that as a business community, and this is one way of showing that support to the country and to the personnel involved."
Andrew Powell, CEO of Healthier Heroes, an organisation supporting armed forces service leavers added: "I'd just like to thank NORi for signing the Armed Forces Covenant today. It shows a real pledge and a commitment to support service leavers and their families.
"As the CEO of Healthier Heroes, it's important for me to try and encourage other local businesses around Lancashire to sign the covenant, to pledge their commitment to service leavers and their families, and provide them with opportunities that they might not otherwise be able to achieve."
Lt Col Ed Fraser, commanding officer of the Fourth Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, added: "It's been a real privilege to be at Burnley College today to celebrate the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant for three new businesses. I think one of the things that really hits home for me is the value of having reservists in your business.
"Reserve service is one of those things that allows you to earn more, learn more, do more, and be more as a person. I think for lots of people, if they're stuck in an office job, Monday to Friday, 9:00 till 5:00, the ability to get out, to physically be part of something bigger, and to be part of a strong team is one of those things that is really important to individuals' wellbeing in the future."
