NHS Trusts combine resources with joint CEO

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will work in closer collaboration under the stewardship of Kevin McGee, who has been appointed as the chief executive and accountable officer of both organisations.

He has held the role on a temporary basis since May, with both Trust Boards, NHS England and NHS Improvement supporting the appointment on a permanent basis.

This strategy of collaboration follows extensive discussions with board members of both organisations, the governors at Blackpool FT, governance advisors and regulators and will see both trusts benefit form sharing good practice and experience.
