AHS & AMP, a global leader in bulk handling and processing solutions, has officially opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Darwen.
The 60,000 sq ft site was unveiled by Blackburn with Darwen's mayor Brian Taylor, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by company leaders, customers and suppliers.
The new facility marks a significant expansion for the company, representing a major upgrade from its former Clitheroe site. No figure has been put on the investment.
AHS & AMP says the increased capacity will enable the company to grow production, improve lead times and create new jobs.
Ben Ayrton, managing director/VP operations supply chain Europe, said: “This isn’t just a new building for us, it’s a stepping stone for our future growth. It allows us to expand capacity, streamline operations and provide even better service to our customers.”
Accounting for 25 per cent of AHS & AMP's global manufacturing capacity, the Darwen site will produce equipment across its four major brands.
It will also support the firm’s growing distribution network and reach across the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia.
The facility includes increased storage, dedicated build bays and a 10,000 sq ft testing area where customers can see the company’s innovative machinery in action.
Beyond manufacturing, the new operation also offers modern amenities for employees, including spacious breakout areas and meeting rooms.
The site has been designed with sustainability in mind, featuring energy-efficient LED lighting and a recycling programme in line with the company’s environmental goals.
The official opening event saw more than 100 guests tour the facility and meet management and staff.
Ayrton said: “We’re proud to be part of Darwen’s business community and excited about the future. This new facility represents our dedication to quality, innovation and growth.”
