Nelson and Colne College student Andrei Balaban takes on role with Seriun starting his IT service and engineering career.
Andrei joins Seriun as an apprentice engineer. He moved from Braila, Romania to Burnley in 2018 and lives with his parents, Adrian and Elena.
Leaving secondary school with eight GCSEs, Andrei completed his IT BTEC level 3. He has had a passion for IT from an early age and would often repair his old computers and laptops. When it comes to IT Andrei is always prepared to learn something new and performs to the best of his ability. This has led to his desire to take an apprenticeship with Seriun to develop both his knowledge and skills.
Andrei previously worked as a warehouse operator at Boohoo where he gained an array of skills including organisational skills and the ability to be flexible and adaptable. This will stand him in good stead for his IT Apprenticeship where he will take on a variety of tasks. As part of Seriun’s Service Desk he will learn how to handle and process customer queries and get involved with solution planning.
Seriun’s Service Desk manager Paul Jameson said: “Andrei is already proving to be a valuable addition to the team and is showing great promise for the future”.
Outside of the office, Andrei has a keen interest to start developing a property portfolio in the near future. He would also like to undertake a mechanics course to gain a wider understanding of the trade so he can tinker with his own car and offer repair services to his friends.
Amongst his preferred pastimes, Andrei enjoys going for walks and playing outdoor sports like football. His most recent hobby is visiting the driving range to practice his golfing swing. At home he likes playing videogames with his girlfriend, and he loves a good chicken tikka masala!
Andrei is a seasoned traveller and some of his favourite places are Oviedo, Madrid, Gijon and Benidorm. He also has fond memories of his time in Turin and Palermo, but is now enjoying exploring his new hometown of Burnley, and the surrounding cities of Manchester and Birmingham.
Andrei commented: “My first week at Seriun has been amazing – the people here are excellent and have been very helpful and friendly. I got to go out on the field twice which has been great as I got to meet some of Seriun’s customers. I have really enjoyed it and look forward to the future’.
