New appointments for Harrison Pitt Architects

Lancaster architecture practice Harrison Pitt Architects has expanded its team with two new appointments.

The Castle Hill-based practice has taken on May Jumah and Lucy Housden, taking the firm’s number of staff to eleven.

May joins as a part one architectural assistant, while Lucy Housden comes on board as office administrator.

May originally qualified as an architect in Syria before moving to the UK in 2004. While she has also recently attained a master’s degree in architecture and urbanism from the University of Manchester, UK architect registration rules mean the 36-year-old has to retrain to gain recognition as an architect in the UK.

May will work alongside the firm’s architects to help deliver new housing schemes, as well as breathing new life into local churches in need of restoration.

Richard Parker, a director at Harrison Pitt Architects, said: “We’ve seen a steady influx of new enquiries recently and are continuing to pick up new projects, so May’s appointment will help bring these schemes to life, while Lucy will provide much needed support to our day-to-day business operations.”

Lucy joins the firm from Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School, where she spent 11 years working in its administration team. The 38-year-old has been hired in the newly created role to oversee the administrative and practice management aspects of the business, allowing the senior team to focus on delivering the firm’s projects across sectors including education, manufacturing, housing and leisure.
