Family bakery Warburtons is to expand its Burnley operation with a new £20m facility that will create 60 jobs.
The new plans, which have been submitted to Burnley Council with a view to beginning work in February, will cater for growth in the "alternative sandwich" market.
Neil Campbell, Warburtons managing director, said: "We recognise that consumer needs and tastes are changing and we must ensure we are fit to meet their needs, now and into the future." If approved, the plant will be able to produce an average of 5,500 products per hour. There are similar plants in Bristol and Bolton.
