Network Rail completes repairs by air

Network Rail has completed repairs on a line between Clitheroe and Manchester, using a helicopter to access the remote hillside location.

The Victorian-era Sough tunnel features two shaft turrets that protrude out of the Darwen moors. They help release air pressure created inside by moving diesel trains, maintaining air quality for passengers and preventing damage to the walls inside.
