Filming has begun on the sequel to Bank of Dave, the Netflix film which covered Burnley entrepreneur David Fishwick's fight against high street banks.
Dave, who made his fortune in the motor trade, met with stiff opposition when attempting to set up his own bank, which would offer fairer terms for savings and loans to local residents and businesses.
The story (covered at the time by Lancashire Business View) featured in Bank of Dave, which debuted in 2023 to high praise and is currently certified 86 per cent fresh on the Rotten Tomatoes movie reviews website.
Now a sequel is in the works, with the true(ish) story of Dave taking on payday lenders.
In the film, Dave (played once again by Rory Kinnear) will recruit Jessica (played by Chrissy Metz), an American investigative reporter, and Oliver (played by Amit Shah), a local Citizen’s Advice counsellor, to his cause.
Together they embark on a journey that will eventually take them to the United States and help bring down an entire industry of predatory corporations.
Bank of Dave: The Sequel is currently in production across Burnley, Leeds and Huddersfield.
