Nelson Town Council’s spectacular free-to-attend event to celebrate the King’s Coronation on Saturday 6th May will include a giant screen live streaming the historic event.
Local residents and those further afield are all invited to watch the momentous occasion together on the screen which will be located by the Shuttle in Nelson town centre.
The Coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey, will take place at 11am, with the ceremony set to begin once the royals have completed their arrival procession from Buckingham Palace, which gets underway from 10:20am.

Over 4,500 primary school and nursery children have been invited to decorate special crowns ahead of the event, before wearing them in the procession from 10am, with the winner set to receive a trip to London worth £400. The children have also received special memorabilia boxes including a souvenir bookmark, specially produced metal souvenir badge as well as a picture and biography of King Charles III.
The procession is part of a fantastic day of free, fun-filled, family activities taking place in Nelson town centre, including a main stage featuring The Take That Experience, fairground rides, face painting, a crown making workshop, roaming street artists, a throne and backdrop for selfies, plus much more.
