Around 42,000 homes and businesses in Bamber Bridge will soon have access to multi-gigabit broadband following Netomnia's £12.6m plan to connect the town.
Netomnia is building infrastructure which supports equal upload and download speeds of up to 10 Gbps (10,000 Mbps), making the connectivity available on a wholesale basis for Internet Service Providers to provide to users.
In late 2021, Netomnia secured £123m funding to support its rollout strategy of reaching one million premises by 2023. The company is partnering with infrastructure company makehappen to roll out its Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband infrastructure.
Alan O’Prey, managing director at Netomnia, said: "We’re looking forward to our rollout expansion in Bamber Bridge, providing residents and businesses with access to ultrafast broadband during a time when so much of our everyday lives is centred around the internet.
"By laying the foundations for an ultrafast, reliable connection, we’re opening up the possibilities for further employment and prosperity into the local area.”
