The Root Fifty-Two team held its inaugural 4-Ball Charity Golf Day in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity. We’re thrilled to announce that due to the generosity of all involved, we’ve raised a fantastic £5,312.50 for charity!
Despite gale-force winds and torrential rain, over 70 golfers from local businesses donned their best waterproof jackets and attended Nelson Golf Club to take part in our charity golf day last week.
Whilst we managed to get the golf off to a functional, albeit wet start – play was unfortunately suspended by 2pm by the sound of the club’s klaxon when the putting greens became water-logged and unplayable.
But whilst the weather may not have been on our side – we certainly didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits!
After seeking shelter back at the clubhouse, we warmed up by tucking into hearty plates of pie and peas and enjoying a drink (or two!) with our players and fellow local businesses, before hosting our prize raffle.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all participants and players who turned up ready to brave the elements, to help raise an impressive amount for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Additionally, a massive thank you to all of those who contributed prizes for our raffle – which included the 1st prize of £280 in American Golf Vouchers, 2nd prize of £180 in Nelson Golf Club vouchers and the 3rd prize of £100 Burnley Football Club vouchers.
As you may know, in January 2020, Root Fifty-Two director, Kimberley, sadly lost her father, Ian, to a brain tumour – so the cause is one very close to our hearts.
As well as providing vital support to patients who are suffering from this cruel disease, the Brain Tumour Charity also assists their families and loved ones by providing the vital support and guidance they may need.
There is still, however, a great deal more to learn and understand about the complexities of brain tumours, which is why the Root Fifty-Two team are committed to raising funds to support in any way we can.
“Despite not having the weather on our side, we are thrilled to have raised such an incredible amount of money for a cause that is very close to our hearts,” says Root Fifty-Two director, Barrie.
“It was fantastic to see that every player had turned up with a positive attitude despite the rain, and it was great to get together with our friends, clients and fellow local businesses for a good cause. We can’t thank them enough for their support.”
We are looking forward to welcoming you all to next year’s 4-Ball Charity Golf event, which we are expecting to go ahead sometime in July 2023. So fingers crossed for some sunshine next time around, and we’ll keep you updated!
