Moorhouse’s Brewery has triumphed in a top business challenge for hundreds of Britain’s independent brewers.
SIBA judges heard that since launching a £4.2m brewing complex in 2011, Moorhouse’s has enjoyed consistent record growth driven by a business strategy to expand sales of its award winning cask ales with leading pub chains nationally – and especially in London and the South East.
Moorhouse’s racked up a milestone 5m pints for the year to March 2013 and further record growth for both last Halloween - hitting a half-a-million pounds sales for last October. And at Christmas some 500,000 pints were sold; a healthy uplift of eight per cent on sales in December 2012, given the prevailing economic conditions.
This success, SIBA was told, has been achieved with new initiatives in service and sustainability with crucial investments made in supplier partnerships, brand innovation, and new people.
At the awards presentation during the annual BeerX event in Sheffield, SIBA judges said: “Moorhouse’s showed a great strategy by expanding production capacity beyond where they need to be, demonstrating vision, continuous investment, effort and financial commitment.”
