Covid-19 has thrown up its challenges for every business: large or small, long established or new start, in every industry and sector.
As an apprenticeship and business training provider, Themis at Burnley College, hasn’t been exempt from this. We’ve faced challenges (and still are), we’re responding to the ever-changing business landscape and making plans for when Covid-19 is no longer the headline news every day.
Here’s a snapshot of our daily focusses to ensure we’re in the best possible place to help local, regional and national businesses:
- Researching, sourcing and implementing the most effective digital platforms to work remotely
- Training our teams to work efficiently and confidently from home
- Forward-planning, forecasting the additional skills and knowledge needed in the weeks, months and years ahead
- Maintaining the mental health of every team member
- Ensuring the health and safety of all our teams
- Creating activities to ensure every team member is motivated and inspired.
We’re all playing a part in this. Our trainers who have years of industry experience in their specialist sectors and unrivalled industry insight, alongside our nationally-recognised tutors (including our engineering team who have used their skills to manufacture face masks and visors for the NHS).
Our Themis advisors, all specialists with an in-depth knowledge of the local employment scene, alongside our IT specialists who have the expertise vital to ensuring Burnley College’s staff can work remotely (successfully allowing 500-plus staff to simultaneously access and enjoy a staff development day).
We’re really mining the expertise, experience and innovation we’ve got at Themis. We’re constantly researching, developing and adapting; we’re focussing and planning. We’re here to share that expertise and insight with employers. Let’s talk: let’s learn from each other.
