Accountancy and business advisory firm MHA’s corporate finance team was among the most active mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory teams in the North West during 2024, according to figures from global data and technology firm Experian’s MarketIQ M&A Review.
The report is used as both a barometer of the UK and regional M&A markets and the firms supporting deals in each region.
MHA, which has Lancashire offices in Preston and Lancaster, was ranked the North West’s fifth most active advisor, up from ninth the previous year.
According to the data, the team supported a total of 24 deals in the region during 2024. The firm was also the 18th most active firm in the UK, supporting 52 deals nationally.
The report is the first since MHA merged with MHA Moore and Smalley in April 2024, creating the 13th largest accountancy group in the UK.
Andrew Feeke, head of corporate finance at MHA, said: “Over recent years, MHA’s corporate finance team has continued to go from strength to strength, embedding ourselves as a cohesive national corporate finance team with clients across the country.
“We have recruited and brought through some of the best advisors, both in the North West and across the UK, and enhanced our reputation for honest, quality advice, helping strengthen our long-term relationships with clients.
“This ethos, and the consistent growth we have seen, are reflected in the MarketIQ figures for 2024, a real testament to the dedication of our advisors and the trust our clients place in our services.
“Our team is continuing to grow across the UK and we now have 37 corporate finance colleagues. In addition to increasing deal volumes, our national, and international reach as a member of Baker Tilly, gives MHA a unique global view, helping us to advise on ever larger transactions across a wider range of geographies.”
MHA is the UK member firm of Baker Tilly International, the world’s ninth largest international network of independently owned and managed accountancy and business advisory firms.
Baker Tilly was recently ranked the seventh most active mid-market financial advisor globally in 2024 by deal count, according to financial markets data provider LSEG’s latest benchmarking league tables.
According to the research, Baker Tilly acted on a total of 262 deals last year. It was also ranked seventh worldwide for small-cap M&A, advising on 257 transactions.
