Much time and energy has been focused on wellbeing and mental health in the UK through the media, business networking and advisory groups over the last three years – and rightly so.
However, my view is that there is risk that drawing too much attention to this area can make mental health conditions a popular and even a desired trait. I believe that it is “healthy” and “normal” to experience a full range of emotions – both positive and negative based on one’s day-to-day experiences, culture, and thoughts. I also believe these happy and sad feelings help shape our beliefs and values which in turn can direct our actions, words and behaviours towards ourselves and others.
There is little doubt that counselling/therapy from trained medical professionals is required for certain mental health conditions and when one is experiencing more frequent symptoms of poor mental health.
The coaching I offer to business leaders is for mental fitness rather than for poor mental health and if counselling can be described as helping someone get out of a hole; then I would describe coaching as helping someone climb a mountain.
I provide bespoke 121 coaching sessions delivered with a proactive approach aiming to ignite well-being, performance, and growth and helping leaders become more resilient, realise their potential, and thrive.
