As the country is in the grips in the worst health crisis in living memory, it is the individual acts of kindness that give hope to us all. Here’s how Mediterranean Linens is playing its part.
Mediterranean Linens is contributing to the national effort against coronavirus by converting its famous cotton pillowcases into scrubs bags for NHS staff.
When the Burnley bedlinen company was approached with the request, they jumped at the chance to show their appreciation. But they aren’t stopping there:
“The idea is not just to supply scrubs bags, but to fill them with thoughtful little gifts, like Christmas stockings. The whole thing is being organised and funded privately by one generous NHS staff member. That’s why we’re asking other businesses to get involved” explained a company spokesperson.
The items they’re looking for are things like pens and pencils, chocolates, keyrings, face and hand creams.
This is where Mediterranean Linens is putting out an appeal to the general business community. A company spokesperson added:
“We want to make a special gift for the NHS. If your organisation would like to contribute something to the scrubs bags, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
Mediterranean Linens are well known for their commitment to the wider role that business can play in society.
This is the organisation that set up one of the first widely recognised apprenticeship scheme in the Egyptian cotton industry. They’ve got a track record of caring, ethical business practice, so it was only a matter of time before they made a positive impact.
Ashraf Said is the founder and managing director of the company. He commented: "We want to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone who works on the frontline of this crisis. We are so proud of the NHS. It’s the envy of the world. With these gifts, we are saying that we are so grateful for everything you do."
