Specialist fulfilment and procurement provider MDA has commenced work on a new £6.5million fulfilment centre.
The 250,000sq ft building, located at Walker Park in Blackburn, is scheduled to be completed by May of this year.
Providing sourcing, storage and distribution of point of sale items and marketing materials for Britain’s biggest brands, MDA has experienced year-on-year growth since 2000 and enjoyed a record-breaking 2011.
MDA will announce confirmation of 2011 performance within the month, with an increase in EBITDA of 5% to £2.14million expected.
Dale Stokes, managing director of MDA, said: “Following a series of major blue chip contract wins and existing clients significantly increasing the scope of our services, we expect 2012 to be our busiest ever year.
“There is significant activity expected in support of events such as the European football championships and London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, so our new site becomes a very welcome addition to capacity and infrastructure.
“With clients such as Budweiser, Coca Cola and Cadbury undertaking major sponsorships of these events we have no doubt that this year will be absolutely huge.”
The MDA Walker Park Fulfilment Centre will be based on the site that proved to be the cornerstone of Jack Walker’s Walkersteel empire and will become part of a high specification facility with a multi-tiered mezzanine floor for small marketing and point-of-sale items specifically designed to minimise dust.
MDA was established in 1987 and will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.
