A Leyland photographer celebrated his third anniversary of trading by raising money and making an exhibition of himself, but it was all in a good cause.
Shooting star Matt Langton, who set up his own business, Mattefinish Photography, in March 2010, has handed over almost £1,000 to the Preston-based Rosemere Cancer Foundation – and it’s all a result of his anniversary fundraising efforts.Matt marked his business’ third birthday with a one-man show and a meal with entertainment at Wellington Park, Leyland, with all proceeds going to RCF. The photographic exhibition, all Matt’s own work, included a series of black-and-white‘ half-portraits of local people from all ranks of life entitled Difference.
He explained: “I was overwhelmed by the local support for the evening and to raise so much is really encouraging. I have been doing quite a bit of work with Rosemere at other events, so what better way to celebrate the third anniversary of Mattefinish than my own exhibition event to support the charity?”The show also included portraits, studies and landscapes created by Matt, who used to travel the world as official photographer on cruise liners, since he struck out on his own in Leyland. The evening included a Carvery meal and live entertainment provided by popular Blackpool singer Heather Dee.
Matt recently handed the money raised at the event to Laura Stephenson, area fund-raising co-ordinator for the cancer charity. She said: “I am delighted to accept this generous donation, it will be put to great use helping cancer patients across our region. Matt is doing a fantastic job and we are so grateful that he is supporting us in our work.”Enjoyed this? Read more from Leyland Leader
