A keen runner from Burnley has exceeded even his own expectations by taking part in his very first overseas marathon.
Jordan Hanley, 27, fabricator at Chantelle Lighting, completed the Walt Disney World Marathon in 5 hours, 42 minutes, alongside his friend Ashley Brian, who finished in 4 hours, 11 minutes.Jordan said: “My friend Ashley has recently moved to Orlando and encouraged me to do the marathon.
“We’ve have run together for years, so this was a great opportunity to challenge and push myself both physically and mentally. Unfortunately, I twisted my ankle at the 16-mile mark, which hindered me a little, but I’m so proud of my time and it’s amazing to be able to tell people that I’ve completed a marathon!”Every step of the 26.2-mile run is magical, with runners making their way through all four Walt Disney World theme parks and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex with plenty of surprises, entertainment and Disney magic along the way.
Jordan has been an employee at bespoke lighting specialist Chantelle Lighting for one year. The company proudly sponsored Jordan, whilst also sponsoring the Fulledge Colts under 6 and 7s team for the year; a team which Jordan manages in his spare time.Anthony Holly, managing director at Chantelle Lighting said: “It’s always a pleasure to be able to support our staff and the local community.
“Jordan should be really proud of himself for completing the marathon, it’s a fantastic achievement and one which takes a great deal of commitment and effort. “As a company, we’re thrilled to be able to help out and sponsor the lads football team, including the kits; we wish the team every success throughout the season!”
