Lovell Homes’ furniture finds new home with Emmaus Preston

Lovell Homes NW has donated furniture from several of its show homes to Preston-based charity shop, Emmaus.

The donation which included a sofa, mattresses, headboards, tables, chairs, dinnerware, electrical goods and soft furnishings was offered to Emmaus in Preston – the largest charity shop in the country - after the house builder learnt of a burgulary at the centre in March which saw over £20,000 of goods stolen.

Emmaus Preston provides a home to people who have been homeless or socially excluded. All of the money generated in its charity shops goes directly to the Emmaus Preston community - providing a home with support and training for up to 26 formerly homeless people. Every member of the Emmaus community works in its social enterprises to build their skills, confidence and experience, whilst contributing to the success of the charity.

Simon Corbett, field sales manager for Lovell Homes NW said: “We’re currently building Oaktree Grange in Clayton-le-Woods and Shawbrook Manor in Leyland so when we heard about the recent burglary at the Emmaus charity shop in Preston we were keen to try and help. The furniture donated is from several of our show homes across the North West and we’re delighted that through Emmaus these items will be given a new home, while supporting and raising funds for a charity which provides such an invaluable resource to those in need in the local community.”

Karen Wallis, community manager at Emmaus Preston said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the donation from Lovell Homes. The furniture will be sold in our Preston Mega Store with all the proceeds going directly to help our Emmaus Preston community. When people buy from us, they get a good quality, affordable item, but crucially they’re helping someone who has been homeless to get their life back on track again.”

The furniture was kindly delivered by Preston-based Michael Allman from Michael’s Man and Van.
