The Apprentice star Lord Alan Sugar and Secretary of State for Education, The Rt Hon Nadhim Zahawi MP, showcased their support for Amazing Accrington’s Futures event which took place in Accrington Town Hall on Thursday 14th October.
In a short video clip Lord Sugar talked about #AmazingAccrington and welcomed Year 11 students to the event, as well as highlighting the importance of being hireable.
He said: “I too was like you in my early years, there was lots of choices and paths in life. I chose to market myself in a mini van and the rest is history. It’s your choice and I would love you to be an Apprentice but whichever of the paths you choose, make sure that you are hired.”
In a separate video, The Rt Hon Nadhim Zahawi, praised the work of Amazing Accrington and Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, in getting the borough’s young people into high skilled jobs.
He said: “Making sure that our young people have the opportunity to get into high skilled jobs is one of my top priorities in places like Hyndburn and Haslingden.
“I would like to thank all involved in organising the Futures event for Year 11s in Accrington, which has showcased the jobs available in your brilliant businesses and beyond.
“Your MP, Sara Britcliffe, is working hard to deliver for the young people of Hyndburn and is working with organisations such as Amazing Accrington, with the priority being their young people’s future.”
The event saw Year 11 students and parents/guardians from Hyndburn schools and around East Lancashire learn about the different businesses and opportunities available to them in the town and wider borough.
