Burnley-based fuel distributor Craggs Energy has recently recruited 7 new apprentices as part of their brand new Apprentice Academy.
The 12 month scheme will provide the apprentices with commercial business skills, a sales qualification and a guaranteed job within the company upon completion of the course. During the year the apprentices will be exposed to all elements of the business including sales, finance, operations and marketing.Initially the apprentices were invited to attend an open morning where they were able to find out more about the scheme and have a tour of the workplace. After completing the application process they were put through their paces during an rigorous assessment day.
During this assessment day, the applicants spent the day working both individually and as part of a team on a wide range of tasks and presentations before having a one on one interview with CEO Chris Bingham.Chris said “It was really important that we found the right candidates for the scheme – and I’m sure we have!” “We’re only a young company but we are growing very fast, we have identified that as we grow we need to keep adding to our talent, because of this we have invested heavily in the academy. If it works as we expect we hope it is something that we will be able to run every year!” As a former “Top 10 New Business of The Year” award winner at the National Business Awards, Craggs Energy is expanding rapidly with the company currently distributing Heating Oil, Red Diesel and other fuels and lubricants across the North West and Yorkshire from its four depots. The company now employs more than forty full time members of staff.
