The Leyland-based manufacturer of liquid roofing products won in the Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing category at the prestigious UK Roofing Awards 2016, which were held in London on 13 May.Centaur Technologies won the coveted award for a challenging roof refurbishment project at Exeter University, which used its Centech PU 25 liquid roofing system. The project was carried out by Centaur approved contractor Western Flat Roofing Company.
Centaur beat off stiff competition from some old names in the liquid roofing industry to take the award at a glamorous ceremony, which was hosted by BBC Breakfast TV’s Steph McGovern at the London Metropole Hotel.Phil Richardson, managing director of Centaur Technologies, said: “This was a national award so, as a Lancashire-based firm, it meant a great deal for us to be nominated and even better for us to win. Despite the wealth of experience that our team has in the liquid roofing industry, our business is a relative newcomer, so we were absolutely delighted to take first place in this category.
"Receiving the award was a crowning moment for everyone who was involved in this complex project. It underlines the pedigree of our highly skilled team, the quality of our product and the nature of our partnerships with our approved contractors.” Centaur Technologies was launched by liquid roofing industry stalwarts Phil Richardson and Jeremy Gorick, a former High Sheriff of Lancashire, in 2013. The duo, who pioneered the use of liquid roofing systems more than a decade ago, developed their flagship Centech PU liquid applied waterproofing system - a low odour, quick cure product that utilises advanced polyurethane technology.
