Links Signs & Graphics, a Blackpool-based business led by managing director Shaun Bennett, has enlisted help to make its factory more energy efficient, reduce the company’s carbon footprint and operate more sustainably.
The company produces large format print and signage from their Coleridge Road barn style premises. Their work is prominent across town, including the resort’s biggest attractions Blackpool Zoo, Blackpool Tower and Madame Tussauds.
The collaboration was made possible by the Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy’s Megan Tucker a sustainability specialist who provided fully funded, impartial advice and conducted a comprehensive energy audit at the company premises.
Shaun Bennett expressed the challenge, saying, “It’s a tricky calculation to make. You want to operate more energy efficiently. You want to explore all the options and find out how much each could benefit you. And you want to balance the investment we are able to make in the fabric of what is an old building.”
“Megan visited the premises and we explored options together. We’d already supplied energy data, and at the meeting we toured the premises and discussed solar panels, our electricity supply, gas supply, the roller doors, roof insulation, heating timers and raising awareness with colleagues.”
The energy audit has enabled Links Signs & Graphics to explore viable options in greater detail. By examining the audit’s personalised recommendations, it allows the business to identify realistic and achievable investments to enhance their energy efficiency.
