Lingwood wins new Anchorsholme Outfall contract

Lingwood Security Management have been awarded a new local security contract through our long-standing client J.Murphy.

The company will be providing security for the Anchorsholme Outfall project.

The project involves the installation of a new outfall pipe over 3.7km. As the site contains offices and stores, plus various excavators, dumpers and dozers, it is vital to keep the site secure at all times. The project commenced on 18th April 2017, involving 24-hour security cover.

At 2.5m diameter and 3.7km in length, the Anchorsholme polyethelene outfall pipe is believed to be the largest in diameter and length in the UK.

Part of a £100m investment over five years, Anchorsholme long sea outfall forms part of the United Utilities’ strategy to improve the bathing water quality along the Fylde Coast. The outfall capacity is specifically designed to allow storm waters to flow far enough out to sea to prevent it affecting bathing water quality.

 

The pipeline will be assembled off-site and towed to Blackpool for installation in August next year, followed by trench backfilling and diffuser installation works. The Murphy work barge, LM Constructor, will be used for the marine operations including installing hundreds of large concrete collars and ballast weights needed to ensure the stability of the polyethylene pipeline. The outfall project is due for completion in December 2017.
