Les Nutter, managing partner at Cassons Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, has been appointed president of the North West Society of Chartered Accountants (NWSCA).
He takes the reins from past president Les Bury, a partner at Beever and Struthers Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, who led the society over the last 12 months.
Les will support the group’s 1,740 members across Lancashire and South Cumbria which form part of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
His primary role will be to oversee the delivery of a range of services for members including a series of CPD courses, a variety of social events and discussion groups as well as representing the interests of chartered accountants to the wider business community.
Les will also be organising the North West Society of Chartered Accountants annual dinner which will take place on Thursday 22 November.
He will be supported in his role of president by deputy president Mark Schofield from Haworths Chartered Accountants.
Les Nutter said: “It is a real honour to able to represent the North West Society of Chartered Accountants. One of the aspects of the presidency I am looking forward to is being able to engage with more businesses and as such acting as an ambassador for the institute.
“I am keen for businesses in the region to understand the power of the institute and how close it is to the real policy makers. One of my ambitions as president is to ensure that the everyday concerns, hopes and aspirations of businesses within the North West region are heard in the corridors of power.”
