Lancashire Enterprise Partnership has secured government funding to deliver a series of free bootcamps to boost the employability of individuals and help digital and tech businesses to boost their workforces.
The money is part of the government's Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs, and will be used to host bootcamps covering skills such as coding, cyber security, cloud engineering and digital marketing.
Lancashire was one of the first regions to successfully pilot the courses, with more than 250 residents benefiting from the previous programme. Further Bootcamps are now available for those seeking to gain or retain sustainable employment with the ultimate goal of aiding employers to build the skilled workforces they need.
Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer. They are available for those aged 19 or above, in work, self-employed, recently unemployed or returning to work after a break.
Employers can also use the Bootcamps by contributing 30 per cent of the cost to upskilli current employees.
Kam Kothia, director of the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership, said: "Lancashire has a growing tech and digital sector which needs skilled talent to fill an ever-increasing number of job roles. What better way of supporting the growth of local businesses than to invest in developing the skills of local people to meet that demand.
