A Lancashire law firm has topped the regional fundraising table for a national charity scheme.
Birchall Blackburn Law, waived its legal fees for preparing wills during Will Aid month in return for a donation to charity.Staff prepared over 200 wills during the initiative and racked up £11,555 (nearly £13,000 with Gift Aid) which will be split equally between nine different UK charities including Age UK, Save the Children and the British Red Cross.
The firm has supported Will Aid for six consecutive years, raising a total sum of £27,288 placing it in the top ten list of donating solicitors nationwide.Shirley Marsland, campaign manager for Will Aid, thanked the team for its commitment surrounding the campaign.
She commented: “By generously giving up time to participate in the Will Aid scheme, the firm has helped people protect their loved ones with a legally binding Will, while also helping improve the lives of thousands of people in the UK.”Partner at Birchall Blackburn Law, Cathy MacCracken, said: “Will Aid has gained such momentum since its inception and we have been inundated with clients wishing to seize the opportunity to have a professional Will written with the added bonus of doing their part for charity.
“National statistics do still cause concern with around three in four people dying without having made a Will. “Making a Will via a regulated solicitor is the only way that you can ensure that your wishes are taken into account after you are gone. For complete peace of mind, or to ensure a previously drafted Will is brought up to date, you can speak to our experts not just during Will Aid but at a time to suit you.”Enjoyed this?
