Preston and Chorley-based law firm, Marsden Rawsthorn, has expanded its commercial property team with the appointment of a new solicitor.
Catherine Hylton, 32, joins from Barnetts Solicitors in Southport, bolstering the firm’s commercial property team.
In her previous role, Catherine acted on behalf of both companies and private individuals who were buying and selling properties and business assets, as well drafting leases for landlords and tenants.
After graduating with LLB (Hons) from the University of Central Lancashire in 2001, Catherine went on to pass the Law Society legal practice course with a commendation the following year, also at UCLan.
Since then she has amassed more than eight years’ experience, starting off in litigation before moving over to commercial property. Catherine, who was born in Manchester and brought up in Lytham, has also worked with Eversheds, DWF LLP in Manchester and Taylor Wimpey, where she was part of the in-house residential legal team.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to my new role with Marsden Rawsthorn and the challenge of my new role. I was attracted to work in property because the work is so diverse - no two transactions are ever the same – and I like all the interactions.
“I see my future here and I’m keen to progress within the firm.”
Stephen Hodgson, head of commercial property at Marsden Rawsthorn, said: “Catherine’s experience in property, both residential and commercial, has given her a thorough understanding of the market and that experience will stand her in good stead in her new role.
“She will undoubtedly be an asset to Marsden Rawsthorn as we continue to provide clients with quality legal advice backed up with excellent customer service.”
Marsden Rawsthorn employs 80 staff across its two offices in Preston and Chorley. The firm offers expertise in all aspects of law including business & commerce, property, dispute resolution, family law and wills and administration of estates.
