Lancaster & Morecambe College (LMC) is proud to work with more than 500 businesses, providing a broad range of apprenticeship opportunities across North Lancashire and South Cumbria.

The college’s unique Skills Development Academy helps equip apprentices with additional vocational skills, ensuring they are ‘work-ready’ upon completion of their programme.

LMC constantly strives to develop strong links with local business and to increase its apprenticeship offer: it delivers across 30 occupational areas and apprentice numbers increased by 23% in the last academic year (18/19) with achievement rates scoring well above the national average.

Building strong links with business

In conjunction with Lancaster City Council and the Careers Enterprise Company, LMC is launching the Lancaster District Responsible Business Network, linking the world of work and business to schools and other educational establishments, to showcase the opportunities available within the local area.

The college aims to help companies grow their business, by delivering social, environmental and economic sustainability, in all areas of their business.

Identifying and delivering sector-specific training needs

Lancaster & Morecambe College is a key partner in Lancaster District Skills Forum, which was established to provide a coordinated approach to recruitment and skills in a bid to support key employment sectors across the Lancaster District.

The aim is to look at the challenges faced by our local employers and support joint working between education and training providers, to ensure that the skills offer meets the future needs of employers in key sectors critical to the growth of the local economy.

LMC believes that by working in collaboration, innovative and creative solutions to the recruitment and skills issues faced by employers can be delivered for the benefit of the business community.
