Lancaster Leisure Park is to become a bustling foodie heaven when it plays host to the Lancaster Food and Drink Festival in May.
Taking place on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May, the festival will offer artisan producers, regional chefs, demonstrations, live music and hot street food.Booths stores has been announced as the headline sponsor for the annual event, now in its second year.
Allan Blackburn, owner of Lancaster Leisure Park and organiser of the event said: “The British food industry has received so much bad publicity recently, that the message behind this event couldn’t be more timely and relevant. We are promoting local producers, who believe in ethically sourced, organically reared produce.”Edwin Booth, chairman of Booths, said; “It is a great pleasure to be able to sponsor this year’s festival and raise awareness of the world class food being produced within Lancashire.
“This festival will be the perfect opportunity to showcase some of the fabulous fresh produce available to people in the North West and give our wonderful producers the recognition they deserve”.Last year over 8,500 people visited the festival, sampling dishes, quizzing the experts and shopping amongst the 100 local bakers, brewers and butchers. There will be five celebrated regional chefs doing demonstrations throughout the weekend, including Rob Talbot from the Lune Valley Smoke House and Craig Johnson from the Sun Hotel in Lancaster. Attractions on the park are open all weekend with a £1 admission fee.
