Lancashire’s world-leading manufacturing sector is ready to make a major contribution to the emerging Northern Powerhouse, a conference on the future of the project was told.
He said he believed manufacturers were “stepping up to the challenge” and also had a great opportunity to have a real say in the government’s emerging Industrial Strategy.

Mr Damms was speaking at a session on manufacturing at the UK Northern Powerhouse International Conference in Manchester which was sponsored by the county’s LEP.
Thousands of people attended the two-day conference and exhibition at Manchester Central, with Lancashire well represented in the exhibition hall. The event brought together business leaders, world-leading experts and political heavyweights to help drive the success of the Northern Powerhouse project. It included sessions on subjects ranging from transport to energy.
