University Centre at Blackburn College graduate Kieran Worrall has completed a seven-year-long journey to achieve his ambition of a career in the Childcare industry.
Starting with the College at Level 1, he then achieved his Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young People's Workforce before using the College’s Apprenticeship links to secure work-based learning at Greenview Nursery.
Upon completing his Apprenticeship, Kieran accepted a role at Blackburn’s Greenview and decided to study the Early Childhood Studies Foundation Degree.
He then went on to study the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies Degree at the Blackburn College University and now works full-time in a Room Leader position at TicTots Nursery in Preston.
Kieran, 23 from Blackburn, said: “It’s been a long seven years, but I made it to where I want to be! I didn’t do well in school and Blackburn College brought the best out in me, I can’t fault them, especially Kathryn Waqar-Uddin (Care Health Public Services & Childhood Studies).
“I met Kathryn during my Apprenticeship course and her support was phenomenal, she was 100% committed to myself and all the students. Because of Kathryn, I took on and completed my Foundation Degree which led me to study my BA (Hons) and secure a job.”
Kieran added: “Being a male in a childcare environment can often be challenging, but I pushed on because I wanted to see it through. If you’re passionate about this industry like I am then pursue it, I can’t recommend Blackburn College highly enough to everyone.”
