South Ribble Borough Council has granted permission for Keepmoat Homes to build 520 new homes at Farington Moss.
The land has been purchased from Homes England and is a strategic housing site under the South Ribble Local Plan.
The development will feature two-, three-, and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes and mews houses. Of the new homes being built, 96 will be affordable, which will be delivered as part of a joint venture with Onward Homes.
Keepmoat's plans also include 2.6 hectares of public open space at the heart of the development. This development will support the local area and help generate opportunities in training and employment which will be delivered throughout the lifetime of the project.
Gareth Roberts, regional managing director at Keepmoat Homes, said: “We’re delighted to have secured planning consent for this exciting new project. The development represents a £100m investment into the area and our aim is to create a new and sustainable community, with diverse green spaces at its heart which will benefit both new and existing residents."
Work is due to start on site in February 2021 with the first homes going on sale in September 2021. The development is anticipated to take ten years to complete.
