Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry has taken on the role of driving the Northern Powerhouse project forward.
He has been appointed Northern Powerhouse Minister in the new Tory government after Andrew Percy stepped down after less than a year in the role.Mr Percy revealed he was standing down on Instagram and Mr Berry announced he was stepping into the job on Twitter today.
He posted: “Huge privilege to have the opportunity to serve as the new Minister for the Northern Powerhouse and Local Growth.”Mr Berry has been parliamentary private secretary to Greg Hands, chief secretary to the Treasury and he has also held an advisory role in housing and local government during David Cameron’s time in Number 10. He becomes the third MP to fill the Powerhouse role after Mr Percy and James Wharton.
