Have you asked yourself if the recruitment agency you use is compliant? Probably not!

In fact, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) recently revealed that nearly 200 agencies have been denied membership for failing to meet its compliance standards.
- Does your employment agency hold the correct right to work document checks on every agency worker that is employed? New legislation means a maximum potential fine of £20,000 per illegal employee.
- Do they run their own PAYE scheme or outsource to an umbrella company?
- If outsourcing to an umbrella company, is the recruitment agency complying with the new HMRC Intermediary legislation?
- Has the recruitment agency ever had a PAYE investigation? If so what was the outcome?
- Do they possess a clear equality and diversity policy and can you have a copy?
- Is your agency a member of the REC? The REC have a directory of membership on their website and you can give them a call on 0207 009 2100 to check if your current provider is a member.
