Ian Brown, a third generation leader of the Blackburn-based family wallpaper business Graham & Brown, is being made redundant.
He has been a director of the business, which was co-founded by his grandfather in 1946, since 1991.
“As with other successful, forward thinking businesses, over the past two years Graham & Brown has had to think differently and adapt and change to be in the best shape possible to meet the challenges and requirements of the future.
The latest accounts for Graham & Brown, posted at Companies House in December 2014, showed turnover of £75m with pre-tax profits of £380,000.
“Furthermore, the Board and I would like to put on record our sincere thanks to Ian for his service as a Director. It is greatly appreciated, as will be his ongoing support as a shareholder in the business.”
Graham & Brown was founded in 1946 by friends Harold Graham and Henry Brown, grandfathers of Andrew Graham and Ian Brown. The founders’ sons David Brown and Roger Graham later took on the business before handing operational control to the third generation. Ian Brown said he did not wish to comment.
