Accrington-based primary school Hyndburn Park Primary School has donated a generous collection of food to local charity Maundy Relief.
Children from Hyndburn Park’s school council organised and ran the collection, which saw parents and students donate non-perishable items for Maundy, the Accrington-based charity, which is known in the Hyndburn community for being a frontline response team who immediately help anyone in need. Their services are open to all and include help with physical, mental and emotional health.
A special assembly was held on Tuesday 21st March, attended by Maundy volunteer Gary, who gratefully accepted the donation from the school.
Joanne Hardwick, headteacher at Hyndburn Park Primary School, said: “Our school council have done a tremendous job of organising this collection for Maundy Relief. We would like to say a special thank you to our children, our parents and our staff for the generous amount of food that you have given us for Maundy.”
Gary, Volunteer at Maundy Relief, added: “This donation from the school has been absolutely fantastic. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff, but mainly to the children for picking Maundy. This is such a big collection for us and trust me it will be used, I can guarantee you that.”
