Leyland-based HW Technology, a branch of the national Haines Watts Group, has presented the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue team with a donation of £600.
Directors Mark Tunstall and Alex Pimperton visited a base in Penwortham to present the team members with a cheque.Mark explained: “As a local company, we set aside funds for local charities and community causes each year. Both Alex and I are keen on the great outdoors and we’re acutely aware of the need to support such organisations as Mountain Rescue. We know they have limited financial resources but do such a fantastic job, we decided to nominate them as our charity last year.”
Bowland Pennine MRT provides 365-day mountain search and rescue service in both the rural and urban districts of Lancashire, and beyond when assisting other teams. Lancashire Police or the Ambulance Authority will call out the team when the services are required. The area covered by the team is vast from the Cumbria border in the North, to the coast to the West; East to the A59 & South to the West Pennine Moors. Team Member Ed Dowcra who, along with colleagues, is on call 24/7 throughout the year, explained: "As a voluntary organisation that receives no guaranteed funding we are reliant on donations and are therefore very grateful for this donation from HW Technology. Donations of this kind allow the team to continue to operate and provide a 365 day Mountain Search and Rescue service saving lives in wild and remote places."
