At Woodcocks Haworth & Nuttall Solicitors, the directors and staff are encouraged to support the local communities in which they are based.
For commercial disputes director, Sara Beaumont, this has led to her taking up a voluntary role as an Enterprise Adviser to her former secondary school.
An Enterprise Adviser works with a school or college to bridge the gap between the world of work and education, working with the Careers Leader and wider senior leaders of the school or college to create opportunities for young people.
Sara became an Enterprise Adviser in November 2019 and has been working with the school to develop and improve its careers education.
She is dedicated to making a lasting impact on the future outcomes of young people. The main elements of the role are:
To support the school or college’s senior leadership team strategically to develop and evaluate their careers plan. To provide a valuable employer’s perspective on how a school or college can embed labour market information and opportunities into the careers programme. To engage with local businesses and employers in your network to put a wide variety of careers opportunities at the heart of young people’s education. The role is open to business professionals who come from any industry sector or professional background.
Being an Enterprise Adviser is a great opportunity to give something back to your community; to better understand the education sector and the challenges faced; to develop skills in communication and strategy development; and to support a local school or college to deliver world class careers guidance to their students.
