Highfield Priory School was originally created in 1938 to educate the children of local business men and women who were looking for an excellent academic environment for the education of their children.
This history of the pursuit of academic excellence, a strong work ethic and good manners continues to this day. This is our ninth year running in the top 30 of The Sunday Times Top 100 Independent Preparatory Schools in England and our second year in the top 10.
We are currently sixth in England and first in the North West (November 2019).
In June of this year, the ISI Inspectors awarded Highfield the highest levels of attainment across the school: ‘outstanding’ for Early Years and ‘excellent’ across all areas in the main school.
Embracing apprenticeships
We are now sharing our success across the community, following the example of our Early Years team who are leading Early Years practice in Lancashire for the third year running.
We have always recruited apprentices in the Early Years, but this year we have decided to embrace the government apprenticeship scheme initiative to extend and include training an apprentice School Business Office Assistant studying for a BA (Hons) in Business Management.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn the many aspects of business management, including financial accounting, human resources, payroll, risk assessment and building project coordination.
Alongside this, we are setting up Highfield as a centralised Learning Hub, inviting practitioners from across the region to share practice and learn from the leading minds in education. Future courses will include: ‘The Curiosity Approach’ with Lyndsey Hellyn and Stephanie Bennet; ‘In the Moment Planning’ with Anna Ephgrave; and ‘An Introduction to Forest Schools’ with Elaine Duke.
If you would like to be on our Learning Hub mailing list or if you are interested in an apprenticeship at Highfield, please contact the school office.
