Rossendale Borough Council has submitted a planning application for its full regeneration of Haslingden Market.
The regeneration scheme has resulted from the council’s success in securing UK Share Prosperity Funding.
The design for the transformed market is a bright and vibrant scheme, with a focus on food and drink and providing space for people to sit and socialise.
The rejuvenated market will provide a variety of quality stalls with increased opening times and frequency, helping to reinstate the market as a central community hub.
The market lies within the Haslingden Conservation Area and has a strong history of street markets, holding what is considered to be possibly the oldest street market licence in England.
Wilson Mason LLP and Gosling Consulting have been appointed by the council to undertake the work. The renewed market will open in 2024.
