Marketing firm Happy Creative has announced that it has signed the Care Leaver Covenant. The nationwide initiative supports 16-to-25-year-olds who are leaving the care system, helping them to live independent lives.
In July 2016, the government published “Keep on Caring” a major policy document to support young people from care to independence. A key commitment in the paper was a strategic pledge to a Care Leaver Covenant.
Already supported by national organisations including John Lewis, Tesco, Amazon and now Happy Creative, the Covenant is a promise made by companies to commit to provide additional and specialist support for those leaving care than that provided statutorily by local authorities.
There are five key areas of expertise providing “opportunities” for care leavers, and over 2000 opportunities have already been created covering employment, training and holistic support.
Happy Creative has made a promise to provide one-to-one mentoring, and will be helping care leavers on an individual basis with employment, entrepreneurship and behind the scenes insights into marketing and branding. It’s all part of their purpose to spread happiness and support local communities.
On signing the Covenant, Chief Happy, Karen Lambert said: “The wellbeing of our society matters to us, we recognise that the wellbeing of our business cannot be separated from the wellbeing of ourselves and our society. We give back our time, skills and money to benefit those in our communities.
"To be able to help a young person gain more confidence, sharing tips, and insights into how a marketing and branding agency works feels like a very aligned way to give back. The value of one-to-one mentoring at any age is powerful, and we’re delighted to support young people starting out in their career”
