The award-winning Corporate team at regional law firm Napthens has expanded its ranks with the appointment of senior associate solicitor Jo Cooper.
Jo, who will be based at the firm’s Preston office, joins Napthens after five years with Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester where she advised businesses across a range of sectors on a wide variety of corporate transactions.
She has worked on complex and sizeable deals including the recent £220million sale of a North West business to a US buyer. Her experience also includes several months spent on secondment in the legal team of a FTSE100 company.
Jo’s arrival is on the heels of a record year for Napthens’ Corporate team, which transacted its largest volume of deals by value during 2019 and saw it ranked among the top ten in the Experian deals table for the North West region.
In October 2019 it won the Mid-size Law Firm of the Year category at the North West Insider Dealmakers Awards, which recognises mid-sized firms which have impressed over the last 12 months with their growth, mergers and acquisitions and activity.
Keith Melling, head of Corporate at Napthens, said: “Jo joins us at an exciting time, fresh from our award win and looking to build on our recent success.
“Jo’s experience and expertise will be of real benefit to our clients in the region as we cement our reputation as the genuine alternative to larger City based law firms.
“She will play a key role in the team as we continue to advise new and existing clients on implementing their strategic growth plans through M&A activity.”
