Renewable energy providers Green Shield Group (GSG) have announced an award-winning solar wall project at Addison Group, their third project focusing on solar wall technology within the aerospace and manufacturing industry.
Addison Group, based in Lancashire appointed Green Shield Group to deliver a 70.98 kWp roof and wall solar PV system saving the business an additional £10,000 in energy costs on the first year and supporting Addison Group’s wider sustainability strategy whilst also providing a return on investment on this unique installation within seven years.
Addison Group has developed a CSR strategy over the last 12 months partnering with Positive Planet to successfully measure and reduce the firm's carbon footprint as well as a number of other initiatives including a shift to solar energy and the install of low level and quiet wind turbines, to supplement the businesses self-supply energy consumption when solar isn’t available in the winter months.
Green Shield Group’s latest installation will support this green initiative and will contribute an additional CO2 saving of over 24,000kg per year for the business.
The Solar PV installed on their south facing wall utilises a bespoke mounting system, with 100% of the generated energy usable direct on site by Addison Group.
Addison Group also works closely with all of their suppliers on their wider CSR strategy selecting sustainable material sources, efficient manufacturing processes and a commitment to using local suppliers where possible.
Sophie Addison, CSR director at Addison Group said: “‘The additional solar power generated by our new solar wall, takes our combined kilowatt output to over 700kw/hr.
"This investment, along with other initiatives undertaken to improve electricity efficiency, has resulted in our production and office facilities, being completely self-sufficient of all bought in electricity, between the months of May through to September from harnessing the power from the sun’s rays with our solar panels.
“Our sustainability pledge is further strengthened as we look towards a wind power generation scheme, mounted on our buildings to supplement the winter month’s energy consumption, when the power generated by the solar panels is much lower, to get the building fully Net Zero the whole year round which will be a fantastic achievement on cutting our carbon emissions.”
Jonathan Harrison, managing director of Ribchester-based Green Shield Group, said: “It’s been brilliant to work with Addison Group on their solar project including the install of a cutting-edge solar wall.
"The brand is truly leading the way with their ESG strategy making all of the right steps to reduce their carbon footprint whilst also saving the business money on their energy bills year-on-year.
"We are looking forward to continuing our working relationship with the team.”
