Santa is on his way and Colne Rotarians hope Pendle shoppers will show their usual generosity to their annual Santa Sleigh appeal.
“Last year we raised £8,000 just by rattling our collection buckets at Sainsburys and Morrisons,” said Rotarian Peter Catlow, spokeman for the Rotary Club of Colne Noyna which runs the event.
All the money raised will be donated to local charities including, the Rosemere Cancer Trust, PETAL the children’s cancer charity, and Pendeside Hospice.
“It looks very professional and has gone down really well with shoppers over the 15 years or so that we have been running the Santa Sleigh fund-raiser,” said Peter.
Sweets are handed out to the children and the Rotarians work hard to ensure there is plenty of Christmas spirit around.
The Rotary Club Of Colne Noyna has three main fun-raising events each year, these including the Trawden Beer and Music Festival and a sponsored walk. “Last year we raised around £30,000 for local charities from these three events and we hope to match or even better that this year,” said Peter.
