Following a period of rapid expansion, just three years after the opening of our dedicated warehouse facility at Burnley Bridge, we recently acquired an additional 208,000 sq. ft. depot at the newly developed Frontier Park in Blackburn.
“The team has been exceptionally busy over the past few months in preparation for our expansion into the new site at Blackburn, and we’re all incredibly excited to now be able to share our progress with everyone,” says F&W business strategy director, Sam Fagan.
“As well as bringing the site up to scratch with current health and safety regulations, we’ve been dedicating a lot of time to customising the space to suit our own needs, and the needs of our clients, with the installation of 17,000 new pallet spaces. We’ve also purchased three new VNA (very narrow aisle) forklift trucks, which have now arrived on-site, allowing our teams to make a start with relocating stock within the warehouse.
“This new site was acquired earlier this year, and already it has afforded us the capacity to welcome on board three new clients. It’s a point of pride for us to be able to look back over the last three years and see how much the warehousing side of the business has grown.
“With the demand for our warehousing and distribution services ever increasing, we’ve been encouraged to review our current operations once more, and have now devised a plan which will see the busy freight consolidation and distribution services currently operating out of Site One at Padiham to be moved over to our new Blackburn site.
“The aim with this move will be to further streamline our operations, with Site One serving solely as a transport depot for full-load consignments carried by our arctic fleet, and Frontier Park incorporating our cross-dock operations to facilitate freight consolidation for part loads and groupage consignments.
“We’re currently working to a provisional date of January 2022 to get the move orchestrated, and we’re really looking forward to being able to share news of our progress over the coming months.”
