Team members here at Fagan & Whalley were excited to be involved with the recent Burnley Classic Vehicle Show, held in the grounds of Townley Hall on Sunday 27th June 2021.
“We’ve never shown our vehicles in this particular event before, so it was great to be able to add this one to our calendar, and we’re looking forward to having a bigger presence in the event in future years,” says F&W Operations Strategy Director, Daniel Wood.
“It was actually brought to our attention by our driver, Douglas Hetherington. Douglas planned to take his classic motorbike to the event and was hoping to borrow one of the 3.5T trucks we’re using for our Future-bound Scheme to transport his bike. When we looked into the event a bit further, we realised there was the opportunity to get involved with showing our commercial vehicles, so that’s what we did!
“All in all, we entered four of our vehicles into the show, including our Future-bound Isuzu and driver Ron Hope’s G cab Scania tractor unit. Truck show veteran and long-time F&W driver, David Weston, also took his tractor unit and won 3rd place in the Best Commercial Vehicle category, and Gareth Jones from our training department entered our restored 113 Scania, and won best in class, which was great to see.
“It was nice to be able to get involved with this local event. We all had a great time and enjoyed having a bit of normality back, as these sorts of events have all been put on hold for such a long time. It was great to spend some time with the team outside of the office, and to do that while surrounded by some good looking vehicles! We’re looking forward to attending and competing again next year!”
